If you haven’t yet seen this trailer floating around – and it’s been viewed millions of times, so you should have – then check this trailer for Birdemic: Shock And Terror, arguably the worst film of the past 10 years and a contender for the title of worst film ever. But out of the calamity of wooden dialogue, cheap special effects and a corny plot, there has emerged a genuine cult title, a post-modern, ironic, Internet-inspired cult that celebrates the film’s, ahem, uniqueness.
It was snapped up by transatlantic indie Severin Films and after its US strategy that has seen the film go on tour around the country (it’s still playing), gathering momentum as it goes, proved to be hugely successful, Severin is mirroring that ploy over here. It debuts at the end of the month at London’s Curzon, before heading off to cities and towns arond the country. DVD due in September or later in the autumn.Tags: Birdemic, Severin
