Thinking Outside Of The Box
It’s not often that studios and distributors make really bold moves when it comes to artwork or trailers – there appear to be a standard set of rules that can be applied, but most agencies seem to work within criteria that have long been laid down.
Not that there’s anything wrong with the existing formula, but when one distributor decides to do something a bit different, its move looks all the bolder.
So it is with that in mind that we offer a look at the US artwork for the forthcoming Ryan Reynolds film Buried. It is set to arrive with a strong buzz from its assorted festival and market appearances (one of the highlights of this year’s Sundance, a well placed source tells us), and this treatment suits the claustrophobic nature of the film, in which Reynolds is, quite literally, buried alive.
The trailer is suitably original too – none of that fade to black that dominates most of today’s trailers and often feels like it might trigger some mild epilepsy, this is almost entirely black.
No word yet on what Icon plans for its UK release – this comes from the US where Lionsgate has the rights, but its rival independent has picked up the title for release.Tags: design, icon, Trailer
